I do some work with audio on occasion. Something that wasn’t obvious to me when I first started doing this work was the problem of how to properly make your own audio library searchable.
Having a bazillion audio files is all well and good, but useless if you can’t find the sound you’re looking for. This problem gets worse when you have multiple users accessing and updating the database of sounds.
A consistent taxonomy has to be created to make your library useful.
That usefulness sometimes results in comedy, as in the example of when I found a sample of a door opening that was labeled with:
Sounds like a burr type of fart
Fart taxonomy is a thing.
