Self Deprecation Will Set You Free

Once again I find myself magically humming the theme song from the old cartoon, “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”

How does this happen?

someone: “my milkshake blagh, blagh,….work it, blah blah…
someone: i really hate having a song in my head when i don’t know any of the lyrics
me: My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.
me: Damn right, its better than yours
me: I’m ashamed of myself
someone: me too

Someone please tell me why the hell I would be attacked during a work-based visit to Wal-Mart by a muzak version of The Hustle?  Seriously, ignoring the ill fated logic behind someone’s decision to place this virulent example of musical tripe on their play-list, is it really all that expensive to pay the royalties for the original recording?  Do I have to zombie-walk through Wal-Mart with the sounds of a Casio electric piano accompanied by one of those tiny fake pianos with colored sound boards for babies?

THE HUSTLE?

As far as I know it isn’t illegal for the song “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips to magically appear in your head.

It should be, and I’m considering a lawsuit against Wilson Phillips for emotional anguish at having that song apparently embedded in my brain.

Change the Eminem song playing loudly on your speakers to something slightly less vulgar whenever future mother-in-law comes to your desk.
